Tune in next time....

...for the adventure's of Kyle and his parents when they travel to Jamaica and fly with him for the 1st time, spend 5 days relaxing, swimming, laughing and being with Auntie Erin & Uncle Eddy for their wedding day! Most likely a slideshow or two will accompany the post as well :) Wish us luck!

But you are a boy!

Kyle is not even 2 and he insisted on wearing a certain outfit yesterday. Ok, not only is not even 2 but he's a BOY! Aren't boys supposed to just put on what Mom lay's out without question? Now here is the dilema...do I let him choose his clothes already and let him walk around looking like a disaster and therefore a reflection on me?! Aye aye aye, I never thought I'd have to fight with him to change his shirt because he had to wear the greeeeeen one! I'm all for letting him be an idividual....I just didn't think I'd have to worry about that until he came home dressed in black and wearing chains...

Watch out Dad

Remember a few months back when Kyle crept down these stairs and wobbly steadied himself on the dock....? I think he's got it down now....even a leap onto the dock...

Pan-Mass Challenge

In addition to and immediately after our wonderful vacation to Jamaica, Matt will be riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge for the 1st time. I give him a lot of credit for; 1. making the commitment 2. training as hard as he has been 3. riding 200 miles for 2 days starting the day we return from boozing and eating in Jamaica! Better him than me :) and 4. the obvious which is supporting and helping raise money for the Jimmy Fund for Cancer Research.

So, I will take this opportunity to ask that you all check out his page and any donations to this ride will be greatly appreciated. Please hope for nice weather for the ride too!

Countdown to Jamaica

Any tips on flying/traveling with a toddler? Christen, I'm pretty sure you could help us out a bit here. We are VERY excited about our trip to Jamaica for Auntie Erin & Uncle Eddy's wedding!!! Hooooray! I'm a bit concerned about the travel though; mainly because we don't travel often even the 2 of us not to mention with the little man. He's a great kid and does listen well, but I don't know what to expect on the flight. Are children typically intrigued or scared? Can I bring a carry on for Kyle's stuff and a separate for mine? I've borrowed my sister's DVD player for backup and I haven't decided whether to check his car seat or bring it on the plane for his seat? I know in my heart that it will all work out and we'll have a smooth time getting there, these are just the things I've never done so wonder quite a bit. I'm also not one to make a list 3 pages long, make sure I've dotted all t's and crossed i's...or the other way around :) I'm more the person who say's "If we've forgotten it, I'll get it when we are there" Maybe that's why when Kyle breaks something he say's " Let's buy a new one" Ooops my bad. Oh another silly thing, do I pack a package of diapers for this trip or can I buy them at the Beaches resort? I realize all these questions can be answered by calling the airline and/or Resort and I will make that call....but I figured I'd just put the questions out there for the heck of it.

Big Day!

Kyle told Auntie Laura he had to go pee pee and sat on the big boy potty and went pee pee!! Hooray for Kyle. 1st step, but a big one :)

I'll call this Kyle isms

Since Kyle was born he has had a lifetime of nicknames and has brought out the silliness in every one of us. I was thinking last night of how funny it is the crazy things that we say when talking with Kyle. Now that he is talking up a storm, literally copying and listening to every word we say, I love that he is also coming up with silly things to say and all the funny sayings we've had over the past 2 years are becoming part of his vocabulary too. I love it! Here is a list of the ones I can think of for today...nicknames, silly sayings, etc.

  1. Toots Magee (a.k.a. Kyle)
  2. Rootin' tootin' poopin' scoopin' cowboy (Auntie Erin in a singsong)
  3. Auntie Toots
  4. Kyle Cucca Bum
  5. Kyle Kyle Gomer Pile (sp?)
  6. Bubba
  7. Bubby Boos
  8. Vern,Verno, Verntastic
  9. Stinky
  10. Snuggy bugs
  11. Toots A Roo (which has resulted in EVERYTHING "A Roo"
  12. Deet (this is the name Kyle came up with for the commonly named binky) which also goes as the Deets a Reets. And since we are trying to get rid of the Deet it has come to be "No Deet Sunday" No Deet Playground" No Deet Auntie Laura's" ( you get the picture)
  13. Gyle
  14. Ongong (Kyle's word for Orange)
  15. Me's ( a.k.a. Mine) ex. "that's me's drwink Mamma"

I'm at a loss for the moment, but they'll keep coming to me so stay tuned....

Remember this Guy?

If not and if you need a refresher on my woodchuck, gofer, groundhog situation here it goes. This thing has been torturing me and my garden for 2 years now. He remained allusive all last summer and only left his teeth/claw marks in my butternut squash. This year the garden was set up as rodent proof using screening and a new gate and I learned that these buggers can really dig. So I figured I'd dig deeper and bury some wood to keep him out. He must have been laughing out loud and he simply dug deeper and made his way in to my squash and green beans this year. I called on good ol' Carl (seen above) (a.k.a. Matt) to help with the gofer situation. He say's I sound just like one of his customers when I vent my frustration and he places a trap at the buggers latest entrance. And day 3.....CAUGHT red handed. And wouldn't you know that the thing is adorable and friendly and now I am feeling bad. I suck it up and Kyle and I released him to a new home, vastly wooded area with no known vegetable gardens to disrupt. I actually thought I was quite mean by ripping him from his home under my shed and taking his food supply away... Matt assures me that he'll dig a hole and call it home in no time. Maybe I should drop off some of my veggies as a parting gift?

P.S. Or I can bring him his mother that Loco trapped in my garden this AM! Now I know that they were double teaming me....and there could be more....O Lordy!

My Playground!

I know I've been talking about it for months and it's finally arrived. After all the build up I was worried that I might be more excited about it than Kyle....but have no fear, Kyle is excited. As they were putting it up he was repeating "I so excited!" And I love being able to say "Let's go to the playground" and just walk out back. Especially on the hot days when it's nice to dip my feet in the little pool and watch Ky have a blast on it. I got the rock wall as part of a promotion and figured he be able to climb it in a couple of years. On the 2nd try (and by himself) he made it up to the top! "Me did it!" He's a great kid and I can't believe he'll be 2 next month!

Truth Be Told

1. I do not cook dinner every night for my family, but there was a time when I cooked a lot and I have to say I'm pretty good at it! I find it hard to find the time and energy to put together anything fancy these days, so dinner is usually something from the grill with a veggie and rice.....

2. I love to color. Often long after Kyle has tired of it I can be found finishing off our masterpiece.

3. I am NOT a morning person and I hate home made coffee (maybe because I make it) I sleep as long as possible and even try to pull Kyle into bed with me for some extra winks. So seeing where he was up at 5Am today, I'm not a happy camper....

There you have it!

Up.....up.... and away!

Daddy borrowed a friends lift for a big job and Kyle was the 1st to go for a ride on it. 60ft in the air and he didn't hesitate for a moment. I wonder if he is really fearless or if he is just very trusting. I suppose I'd rather him be trusting then afraid of everything. And I am also very trusting of Matt or I'd never let him go up there! They really do have a lot of fun together.

2 Truths & A Lie

(Correction Made) I played wrong the 1st time and put up 2 lies and 1 truth....I've since corrected it)

Tag!!!!!! These are the rules:

1. you tell 3 things about yourself
2. 1 of the things has to be a lie and the other 2 are true
3. people have to guess which one is the lie.

1. I don't cook dinner for my family every night. If I did, I'm sure it would be delicious.

2. I enjoy coloring.

3. I get up in the morning before Kyle to have some "me" time and coffee.

Please play along and I tag...Chris & Sue

It's Baaack....

The Mohawk that is! And I am starting to believe it is causing the naughty behavior. Looks a little tougher and acts a bit more like a brat. Like when he greeted our 4th of July party host with a roundhouse kick to the shin. How do I explain that's only funny when you and Daddy are playing fighting? Luckily he has a killer smile and turns on the tears while saying sorry so it works extra well. Imagine if I put a sticky tattoo on him? He'd be taking off on his big wheel flippin' me the bird!!!
