This dang pig!
I'm gonna kick this Pig Pens butt, if I ever find her! I've got nothing better to do this morning than to ransack my house for a 1" stuffed pig, right? It would be easier to have another baby and give Kyle a sibling than to search for this thing every day!

Bat Mom is Home Alone
....and far less entertaining than the 1st edition featuring that cute little Culkin; this movie features and lonely injured Mom and it's just plain sad. I really wish I had sat down to the blog 2 weeks ago to document the true crazy raw emotions I was experiencing as the 1st day of Kindergarten approached because the before and after would be a trip compare. To say I was an emotional disaster would be putting it mildly and I was more surprised than anyone to be feeling the way I was (still am....ya know...just a tad). In my mind Kyle wasn't only heading off to Kindergarten, he was racing out of my arms at an alarming rate to Kindergarten, high-school, college, marriage and there was nothing I could do to stop it! For the past 5 years I have been fortunate to be present for 99.9% of everything he's done, been, eaten, watched, learned and in control of his almost entire environment and while I'm beyond thankful for every minute, it's become grossly real that it really does go by too quickly?! Who knew all the millions of parents who say it are correct, huh? 2 weeks ago the thought of putting him on a school bus threw me straight into dry heaves and had me seriously considering home-schooling, and then I realized all too quickly that I don't know anything and had to strike that plan. He was rather indifferent about the whole thing. "Yeah, OK Mom I'm going to Kindergarten, I don't really feel like talking about it anymore" Day 1 was a tough one, I won't lie. Lots of tears shed throughout the day, lots of wondering going on and then the bus arrived to drop him off and that beautiful little boy bounced off with the biggest smile, laughing and playing with his new friends as if he'd been doing it for years. He completed his 1st full week today and I couldn't be more proud. So, now that I'm creeping off the couch a bit more each day I'll be focusing a lot more on the BAT in my Bat mom name from 8-4 and I'll shove as much MOM in as humanly possible from 4pm on. I don't think I'll ever get over missing our impromptu Zoo runs mid-day, mid-week though.......

Crisis averted!
Because Kyle doesn't have a sibling (and assures me he doesn't want one to those of you who hound me on a weekly basis) he takes things into his own hands and creates his own playmates. We all remember Jaryld the stuffed hampster, yes? Well, for some reason Jaryld went missing during the move and thankfully things were so busy and new and exciting that Jaryld simply went to the wayside and we haven't heard of him since. We do however have a new friend, Pig Pen! (seen in Kyle's backpack below)
Try to focus on that cute little pig and not that beautiful boy if possible. So, I have been given the task of babysitting Pig Pen while Ky is off at Kindergarten and I won't lie, it's a tough task. I've been given a list of things to know about her including nap times, favorite foods, bath times and an extra leash in order to walk her. This is no joke in case some of you think I'm exaggerating at all, it's the real deal my friends. With the background set I'll move on to the "crisis" if you will. After school yesterday Kyle came home and headed to Mammy's room for some down time with Pig Pen. While catching up on Spongebob they were playing, he tossed her in the air and the ceiling fan took her for a ride to the top of the bookcase. Seemed like a simple solution right? I grabbed a ladder and climbed my broken butt up to get our friend Pig Pen.....and Surprise! The bookshelf was a built-in beside the fireplace as an afterthought I'm guessing and there is a large space behind it roughly 2 sq ft deep/wide and 10 ft deep!!!! Yay for me! Bedtime, injured back, trapped Pig Pen and distraught little boy - so what's a girl to do but get to work designing a Pig Pen recovery system. I worked for about an hour with mirrors, belts, sticky lint rollers, coat hangers, flashlight, hooks, etc.... it was an interesting sight and to no avail. Matt called in the middle of it and decided he would re-route his trip home and stop to pick up a replacement Pig Pen "just in case". Kyle cried himself to sleep in my arms missing Pig Pen and broke my heart in pieces while I promised to get her out. Matt got home in time to slip the "new" Pig Pen into his arms before falling asleep a bit more soundly. This solution was short lived when Ky woke up this AM and the 1st thing out of his mouth was "Pig Pen is so clean and soft, Mom". Uh oh! "Moooommmmmm, Pig Pen looks different!!" and here come the tears........ Daddy got to work on the bookshelf Pig Pen recovery asap and with some fishing gear and tape and Voila!! Pig Pen was recovered just before running to the bus this morning. Kyle literally cried tears of joy when Daddy handed over the correct, dirty, un-soft Pig Pen. Happily ever after :)

Couch Bound & Going Crazy!
It's been a LONG time and I've been wanting to get back to the blog especially since Ky is off to Kindergarten and I want to make sure I don't forget a moment of this new adventure. As we start this lovely adventure and Ky is off enjoying his day, I'm confined to the couch with the worst back injury I've ever experienced. Day 3 on the couch and I'm still in bad shape. Monday, as I lay on the bedroom floor for a solid 2 hours unable to stand up, I was scared to death convinced that I might never stand again. Thankfully I had my cell phone with me when I went down and Matt drove home as quickly as possible. I'm off to the Dr. and hopefully an MRI to determine whether or not this is a few more days on the couch or something more serious. It's painful for the obvious reasons, but it's more painful & depressing to be unable to care for my family. I am so lucky because they are still taking great care of me.

Silly Bands at 3 years old?
It's been a while and I've found new inspiration to blog again (at least at this moment) because I started this blog hoping to document Kyle's childhood and he's going to be 4 in August - I should probably get on it. And I know Mammy enjoys it too :) For the 1st time I was at the mercy of the retail gods searching for "silly bands" And they don't sell them at Target?! WHAT, I can't find it at Target - it must not exist! Someday I just know I will be duped into getting a Target CC becuase I'll answer yes without listening and before you know it I'll owe thousands to them. Got off track, sorry. No, I have to search gas stations and Trucchi's markets to find the latest and greatest "it" toy which is in danger of being banned from schools. Silly bands. Kyle is officially sporting 35 of them and I know this becuase he takes them off, lays them out and counts them 35 times a day. I won't know what the lower half of his left arm looks like for some time I'm sure and if he gets kicked out of pre-school for trading them its over. But, I'll admit I'm kinda into it. I was accused of such when my eyes lit up while hopping into the 4th store yesterday in search of them and I dug through the bin asking things like "is there a limit to how many pkgs I can buy?" and " Are they all animals or do they Oh look fruit one! " Yup - I'm that Mom. Felt a little bit of pride even when Kyle walked into school this AM and showed off that his Mom found silly bands. I'm kinda cool like that and get what the kids are into! LOL
